Contractual Hours: 22.5 hours (typically 9:00AM-5.30PM, three days per week as agreed, with flexibility required to work evenings and weekends to attend events)

Person specification

This role provides a unique opportunity to work with the new BIMM Birmingham team and to contribute to the successful establishment of the new college.


BIMM enjoys a high profile both in the education sector and within the local and national music industry. The successful candidate will understand the ethos and spirit of BIMM and have the confidence and personality to maintain and build relationships with existing external partners and with new industry contacts in the Midlands. An awareness of and connections within the Music Industry is essential. 

Although in part an outward facing and ambassadorial role, this post also entails regular liaison with all members of the BIMM team to ensure the smooth running of all external and internal events including Masterclasses and gigs. We require a team player who can work closely with staff at all levels within the organisation and be supportive and proactive in enabling students to make the most of external opportunities that arise.

Key accountabilities

• BIMM Guests
o Research and book Industry related guests for BIMM Birmingham to maintain a varied and high profile programme for on-board students, with support from other BIMM group staff.
o Ensure that all areas of the curriculum are represented by the range of guests booked
o Manage all guest relationships from first contact to BIMM visit and follow up to build sustainable relationships
o Ensure that all Guest events are heavily promoted and well attended
o Manage the Events & Guest budget, ensuring best use of the available funds.

• BIMM Events / Gigs / Festivals
o Plan and coordinate all Birmingham gigs and events to ensure their smooth running.
o Liaise with the Birmingham team to set an appropriate programme of events for the year
o Work with the Head of Estates & Facilities, Head of Education, Course Leaders, Module Leaders and Tutors to ensure correct equipment and staffing at all gigs and events
o Hold responsibility for booking venues and managing BIMMs relationships with these key stakeholders
o Work with the College Principal, Head of Education and teaching team to select and prepare acts for gigs, industry showcases and other events
o Liaise with the Head of Estates & Facilities to ensure that all Health and Safety checks and management of each event is in-line with agreed policies with student and attendee safety and well-being
o Manage all Events budgets and ensure best use of the available funds

• Promotional and PR Activities
o Be responsive to all new opportunities to promote BIMM Birmingham and build our brand in the Midlands.
o Liaise regularly with the BIMM Marketing team to ensure maximum exposure of all PR-worthy events.
o Provide regular content, news and industry stories for presentation through BIMM web and social media channels (via BIMM’s centralised marketing department)

• BIMM Birmingham Playlist
o Oversee the development and production of the BIMM Birmingham Playlist – in close liaison with College Principal and Head of Education.
