This role provides a unique opportunity to work with the new BIMM Birmingham team and to contribute to the successful establishment of the new college.  BIMM enjoys a high profile both in the education sector and within the local and national music industry. The successful candidate will understand the ethos and spirit of BIMM and have the confidence and personality to maintain and build relationships with existing external partners and with new industry contacts in the Midlands. An awareness of and connections within the Music Industry is essential. 

Although in part an outward facing and ambassadorial role, this post also entails regular liaison with all members of the BIMM team to ensure the smooth running of careers and industry related events. We require a team player who can work closely with staff at all levels within the organisation and be supportive and proactive in enabling students to make the most of external opportunities that arise.
The role will involve overseeing all Work Based Learning (WBL) provision in Higher Education (HE) and work experience in Further Education (FE).

You will also:
• Deliver a number of WBL and career development tutorials each week 
• Organise employability enhancement workshops
• Search for and negotiate work opportunities, primarily, but not exclusively, in the creative industries and educational sectors.

Desirable criteria for applicant:


• Degree (or equivalent level qualification)
• Experience and understanding of working in an educational environment.
• Experience offering one to one guidance sessions

Key accountabilities

You will report to the College Principal and will also work closely with the Events & Guests team at BIMM Birmingham. You will also liaise regularly with Industry Placements and Careers Co-ordinators located at other BIMM Colleges. Additionally, you will ensure regular and timely communication with Course Leaders at BIMM Birmingham, particularly in the disciplines of Music Production, Music Business, Event Management and Music Journalism.

• To actively seek out, engage and maintain employer engagement with Work Based
Learning (WBL) at BIMM.
• To advertise and promote the opportunities to BIMM students and encourage student engagement in these activities
• Record current student activity and achievement in WBL.
• Capture WBL success stories for the BIMM website and marketing purposes.
• Organise Careers Events such as Employability workshops, networking opportunities and Careers Fairs.
• Deliver and accurately record Careers tutorials as required, and offer CV and job application advice to students.
• Actively seek employment opportunities for students and graduates of BIMM through regular visits to employers and attendance of industry networking events.
• Hold regular meetings with the BIMM team and liaise with all tutors informally
to discuss WBL opportunities and seek advice on potential opportunities within specialist areas.
• Manage and contribute to the resources available to students in the careers and industry hub
• Manage the Industry Opportunities listed on BIMM Connect, our online student network.
